The Council Chair by Kasper Salto and Thomas Sigsgaard was originally designed for the Trusteeship Council Chamber at the U.N. Headquarters in New York in 2011. The chair offers great comfort and is ideal for offices and conference rooms.
The story behind the Council Chair:
In 2011 the design duo Salto & Sigsgaard won a design competition under the auspices of the Danish Ministry of Culture. The nature of the competition was to design the furniture for one of the permanent chambers at the United Nations headquarters in New York, namely The Trusteeship Council Chamber. This chamber bears special significance in Danish design history as it is also referred to as the Finn Juhl Chamber.
To accomodate this Onecollection developed, produced and delivered the unique Council Chair designed by Kasper Salto and Thomas Sigsgaard.
The chair passes on the baton from Finn Juhl’s iconic design heritage in a sculptural and pleasant direction, that merges shape, color and natural materials. The chairs are a construction of molded 3D veneer in oak or walnut, upholstered with leather or fabric. The swivel base is cast in aluminium.
The Council Chair is part of a campaign where Onecollection gives a donation to the organization LittleBigHelp for every chair that is sold worldwide. LittleBigHelp is an NGO that works towards improving living conditions for some of the most vulnerable women and children in West Bengal, India.
